Fear of Horror
Lines of moonlight streamed to that dark room through a tiny ventilation at the corner. Dust and mist floating in the thick air was highlighted by the scattering cold light. He was in his deep sleep when two hands crawled through the bed towards his neck. Blood stained fingers caressed his hair and scrolled down to his neck. The hands gripped to his neck in flash…. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the boy woke up with a scream.
Lucky that I kept the TV volume to a high that my scream was unnoticed by my niece with whom I was watching this horror movie. I slipped my eyes towards him occasionally to see if he is noticing any of my fear. His small mouth is big enough to rattle my Mr.Courageous outfit among family members.
This was third time I was able to sync my voice with the TV and show of my fearlessness. I was more surprised that he was not even blinking on these horrific scenes. The movie continued another scene was building it with horror. ‘Noooo’ I pulled my blanket over my face. It took a while for me to realize this time the boy on screen tried to yell but his voice was mere passage of cold air.
I had to cover up my fear. With a fake smile I slowly pulled the blanket down preparing an excuse in my brain. “It was to test your courage and since u didn’t panic you are as courageous as me”. I hoped this will flatter my niece and I could save my face. With a wicked laugh I was slipping the blanket down from my face.
“Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh” it took a while for me to get back my breath. As my niece was just inches away from my face when I pulled the blanket down. One second and my uncle courageous mask was rolling on the floor laughing!!
